Querer Foundation

Past mission

Spain - Since 31/03/2022

Querer Foundation is a non-profit institution created in 2016.
Our first and biggest project is the Celia and Pepe School, unique in Spain for its teaching methodology to children with neurological diseases. The school, specialized in language disorders, opened its doors in 2018. Today 35 girls and boys aged from 4 to 17 years benefit from it.
The Foundation strongly believes in scientific research as a pillar to educational success and works in close collaboration with renowned doctors, universities, and hospitals, designing and implementing studies that provide solutions to ameliorate not only educational methodologies but also the daily life of the kids.
We receive no public subsidies, and our funding comes from families, private donors, larger foundations, many corporate collaborations, and an immense variety of social events serving also to create awareness.

AIRES

Current mission

Spain - Since 23/11/2021

AIRES is a non-profit organization founded in 2015 to provide innovative solutions to help improve the quality of life of women who are suffering social and residential exclusion: homeless women.
We create real recovery opportunities for women who are homeless and survive gender based violence. Our goal is to end homelessness and all kinds of violence against women.
From the beginning, we have been implementing comprehensive care projects focused on each of the women we work with. We provide affordable and stable housing and specialized support for social and labor inclusion.
There was no resource in the city of Madrid offering specialized support from a clear gender perspective. That is why we constituted AIRES and created our project: “La Morada”.
La Morada is dedicated to all women with complex needs, who survive violence and are homeless in the city of Madrid, in order to generate real opportunities for employment and social inclusion.

BACKBONE South SME

Current mission

Philippines, Peru, Ivory Cost - Since 17/10/2017

In the developing countries, unemployment is a source of multiple troubles leading to political instability, social unrests and sometimes massive migration flows.
Supporting economic activity is essential to create jobs, thus enhance living conditions of the mass.
BACKBONE is a private initiative set up by former bankers who have dedicated their skills to social and economic development through services of mesofinance. That latter concept is addressing the existing financing gap between microcredits and banking loans, where a significant number of family businesses and cooperatives are and cannot grow because of a lack of access to funding.
BACKBONE is working with local partners to screen and select family companies and cooperatives of production that could achieve huge positive impact (such as improving social inclusion, securing good working conditions for their staff or mitigating environmental harms) if they would have a timely access to credits for their crops or for their daily financial needs for instance.
BACKBONE is expanding throughout Africa and Latin America.

The Iquitos Trauma Project

Past mission

Peru - Since 01/11/2017

Trauma causes more death and disability in young people than any other disease. The Iquitos Trauma Project is an initiative that began in 2013. It is lead by Dr. Vincent Duron, pediatric trauma surgeon, and is based out of the Hospital Regional Loreto, the large referral hospital for the Loreto region in the Peruvian Amazon. Iquitos is the capital of the very underserved Loreto region.
The mission of the project is to build context-specific trauma prevention and treatment programs. A trauma registry is locally staffed and maintained out of the Hospital Regional Loreto. Accurate recording of trauma events and associated patient-specific data is vital in creating the most applicable and effective trauma initiatives.
The project thrives on local capacity building and involves healthcare providers and staff in all levels of organization and development.
